Today I wanted to write about something I have been thinking about for a long time. Facebook is not just a social platform. It is a system that uses psychology to keep people locked into scrolling. The design is intentional. It pushes emotional responses because reactions are more profitable than calm thinking. When a platform is built to make you feel bad or insecure, it is easier for them to turn that discomfort into engagement, and engagement into ad money.
The entire structure is based on making people compare themselves to others, feel left out, or feel like they need to keep checking in. It is not there to help you grow or feel supported. It is built to collect your information, track your patterns, and feed you content that keeps you hooked. They are obsessed with ads and monetizing every part of the user, and that includes your emotions.
I have found that it is not a healthy website to visit. It drains focus, confidence, and creativity. It does not give anything back. It takes your attention and then sells it to advertisers. That is the core design. I do not think a site that operates like that is good for anyone who is trying to build or create something meaningful.
So I am choosing to step away from it. I want to spend my time coding, making art, and working on projects I enjoy, not feeding a system that is built to manipulate feelings for profit. Writing here in my Activity Log feels better because it is my own space with no hidden agenda. Just me, my thoughts, and my work.
